Questions About AI Governance?

What is AI Governance?

AI Governance is the set of policies, controls, and monitoring that determines how AI gets used inside your business. It defines which AI tools are approved, what data can be shared with them, and how that activity is tracked and enforced. Done right, your team gets real leverage out of tools like Copilot and Claude without putting sensitive company or client data at risk.

Why does my business need AI Governance?

Because your employees are already using AI, whether you have sanctioned it or not. Without controls in place, sensitive data like financials, client records, and contracts can end up pasted into public AI tools with no visibility and no way to pull it back. AI Governance gives you that visibility, blocks unapproved tools, and puts enforceable rules around the ones you allow. Cyber insurance carriers and auditors are also starting to ask how you manage AI risk, and a policy document sitting in a shared drive is not an answer that holds up.

Is AI Governance only for large organizations?

No. Smaller organizations are often more exposed, because their employees adopt AI just as fast but without a dedicated security team watching it happen. Our program is built on the Microsoft 365 tools most businesses already own, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, and Purview, so it works just as well for a 20-person organization as it does for a 500-person one. Pricing is a flat monthly rate per user, so costs stay predictable at any size.

How does AI Governance support compliance?

Governance produces the evidence that auditors, assessors, and insurance carriers actually ask for. We configure and monitor controls across Entra ID, Intune, Defender, and Purview, then tie that activity back to frameworks like CMMC and NIST 800-171. You get ongoing security posture reporting plus documentation support for cyber insurance renewals and audits, so the answers exist before anyone asks the questions.

Can you help create AI policies?

Yes. Policy creation is a core part of the program. We work with you to build an AI acceptable use policy, define which applications are approved or restricted, and set data protection rules for tools like Copilot and Claude. Then we enforce those policies technically through Microsoft 365, so the rules are configured into the environment instead of trusted to memory.

How long does implementation take?

Most implementations take 30 to 45 days depending on the size of your environment and your team's availability. We start with governance design, move into Defender, Purview, and baseline monitoring configuration, then transition you into ongoing monthly governance. From there it runs as a continuous cycle: monitor, analyze, adjust. Governance is not a project you finish. It is a posture you hold.

What do we get once governance is in place?

A foundation you can actually build on. Once identities, data, and AI use are governed, you can deploy AI at the work that matters instead of the work that is easy. That is where Managed Intelligence starts, and it is why we will not deploy AI into an ungoverned environment. Governance is not the ceiling. It is the launchpad.
